Scatter some seedy love!

There are few things as jolly and brilliant for biodiversity as a wildflower meadow. But while most of us probably don’t have our own meadows (yeah, only in my dreams!), that’s not to say our children can’t create their own little wildflower haven on the doorstep.

The MOST fun (and Banksy-esque) way of doing this is by making and scattering wildflower seed bombs. I’ve been making these with children over the past few weeks, and they’re super simple, even for the littlest hands. You just:

1. Gather together some compost, air-dry clay and wildflower seeds

2. Pull off a small chunk of clay, and smoosh it (you know what I mean!) together with some compost

3. Add seeds, smoosh some more, and roll into a ball

4. Leave to dry for a day or two, then sprinkle onto soil in your own patch… or a desolate local space that is in need of some wildflower love!
